Today I had a tubal ligation surgery and the doctor told me she cut the uterus. is this normal?

I was very drowsy.She told me it will heal by itself, has any one had this experience? it hurt so much, another lady next to my bed had the same procedure and she was walking like nothing. is it normal to cut the uterus during a tubal?
